Assessment criteria for the application of polymer flood for displacement of heavy high-viscosity oils of Iran

Operation of Iranian high-viscosity and heavy oil fields requires increasing the efficiency of production. Traditionally, waiting for the solution of this problem using thermal and chemical methods, the implementation of which is often a very costly undertaking. The article analyzes the method of polymer flooding as a technology to improve the efficiency of production of high viscosity and heavy oil fields in Iran.
Materials and methods
Based on modern methods of assessing the applicability of methods to increase oil recovery, as well as the latest results of laboratory and field experiments on polymer flooding, the criteria for the applicability of polymer flooding to the fields of high- viscosity and heavy oils of Iran were evaluated, the main parameters of the process were evaluated.
Results
The principal possibility of using the method of polymer flooding for the development of deposits of high-viscosity and heavy oils of Iran was confirmed, the method of selection of the rational viscosity of the polymer solution was proposed.
Conclusions
The technique of determination of rational values of viscosity of polymer solutions for polymer flooding is offered, local values of rational viscosity of polymer solutions for polymer flooding of objects with high viscosity and heavy oil of Iran are calculated. The results of grouping these local values for extensive application (in commercial scales) are proposed. Planned the further ways of improving the technology.
