The oil and gas reservoirs found in the weathered and fractured basement reservoir are considered as an unconventional hydrocarbon resources. The analysis and integration of geological and geophysical data on hydrocarbon fields found in the basement of the Cuu Long basin (The White Tiger, Dragon fields) has revealed the general features of their structure, which could be used to predict the potential of similar hydrocarbon accumulations. The decisive influence of neotectonic faults on the initial flow rate and accumulated production of production wells in the White Tiger field.
Materials and methods
3D seismic data on White Tiger, Dragon oil fields and the Dragon, data on initial flow rate of production well and accumulated production of White Tiger oil field. Structural and paleotectonic analysis of the geological structure of the southern Vietnam shelf including Cuu Long basin and the oil fields, based on available materials and literature data.
Results
Based on the study of the geological structure of the main oil fields in the basement of the Cuu Long basin, such as the White Tiger, the Dragon, in order to develop criteria or methodological techniques for their targeted prediction, the general features of their oil and gas fields have been revealed.
Conclusions
Based on this, it can be concluded that the selected features are universal, which can be considered as criteria for the oil and gas potential of the basement and can be used in the practice of oil and gas prospecting and exploration.
